From nurturing future leaders to empowering women and youth across borders, Hong Wei Liao weaves purpose, compassion, and quiet strength into every chapter of her extraordinary journey.
A Life of Quiet Impact: Hong Wei Liao on Legacy, Leadership, and Lifting Others
In a world that often celebrates loud success and instant fame, Hong Wei Liao is a refreshing counterpoint—a woman whose influence is measured not in headlines, but in lives changed. Born in Hunan, China and now based in Toronto, Liao has devoted her life to building bridges between cultures, guiding the next generation, and redefining what it means to leave a legacy.
As the head of the Botrich Family Wealth Heritage and Development Center, she counsels high-net-worth families not just on preserving their assets, but on enriching their purpose. “I believe legacy is about what we leave in people, not just what we leave to them,” she says.
Liao holds a master’s degree and is the mother of five children whose diverse paths span education, business, and the arts. Yet, for her, family is not defined by biology alone—it is a philosophy. “Every child deserves a chance to shine,” she says. “We must guide them with values, not just opportunities.”
Her passion for empowering youth has blossomed into wide-reaching support across North America, from mentorship programs to scholarships that nurture talent and build confidence.
Liao co-founded Botrich Inc., a unique firm that bridges wealth management with personal development. With offices connecting clients across Canada, the U.S., and China, Botrich blends financial stewardship with education on health, law, tax planning, and philanthropy.
For Liao, money is never the end goal. “True wealth is measured by purpose and clarity,” she explains.
Events hosted by Botrich feature diverse experts, reinforcing the idea that holistic well-being and legacy planning go hand in hand.
Liao’s leadership in women’s empowerment is long-standing. As the Life Honorary Chair of the North America United Global Women’s Association, she sponsors women’s awards and events that elevate female voices in leadership.
In 2024, she received her second Global Women of Excellence Award, adding to her honors that include the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the King Charles III Coronation Medal, both recognizing her decades of community service.
Still, she remains humble. “Leadership is about serving quietly. Not showing off, but showing up,” she says.
Liao plays a leading role in the Canada Youth Funding Association (CYFA), where she supports galas, lectures, and mentorship initiatives. She is especially committed to giving young people a platform to express themselves through events like the Global Kids Icon Grand Finals and the Vancouver Beauty Dance World Gala.
“I want them to feel seen, heard, and believed in,” she says. “Talent needs space to grow.”
Through CYFA, countless students have gained access to top universities like NYU, Johns Hopkins, and Ivy League schools, each carrying with them the values instilled by Liao’s guidance.
Liao believes deeply in the arts as a tool for empowerment. For over 17 years, she has supported youth dance programs in Vancouver, especially the “Dancing Passion” gala, which blends cultural dance with modern expressions like K-pop and ballet.
“It’s not about perfection. It’s about giving kids the confidence to express who they are,” she says.
She also mentors young entrepreneurs, including one currently preparing a global 3D technology startup for IPO—an example of her commitment to walking beside emerging talent, not just advising from afar.
“Mentorship is a long journey,” she says. “It’s not about giving advice. It’s about listening and walking beside someone.”
Despite her international impact, Liao remains grounded in community. Whether speaking at a youth event in Vancouver or hosting a cultural celebration in Toronto, her efforts reflect a consistent commitment to connection and service.
In 2025, she was named WORLD MADAM Honorary Champion and Global Peace Ambassador, honoring her work to promote unity, dialogue, and peace through women’s empowerment.
“I’ve been lucky to meet many great people,” she says. “I just try to do my part.”
To speak with Hong Wei Liao is to experience the power of humility combined with purpose. She doesn’t demand attention—but her impact is undeniable.
Her leadership stretches across continents and generations. She supports artists, nurtures scholars, and lifts up future leaders. Her story is not just about success—it’s about significance.
“Success isn’t just what we achieve,” she says. “It’s what we inspire in others.”
In that sense, Hong Wei Liao’s legacy is already written—in the hearts of the thousands she has uplifted, and the communities she continues to serve with grace and quiet strength.
