From brand protection to breakthrough partnerships, the CEO of CMG Talent shares how strategic foresight and legal excellence are redefining the creative economy.
An Interview with Joey Roesler, CEO of CMG Talent
In a digital era defined by virality, velocity, and visibility, few names are as influential in the intersection of law, talent, and brand management as Joey Roesler. As CEO of CMG Talent and a distinguished attorney at CMG Worldwide, Roesler has carved a unique niche—one where legacy meets innovation, and where intellectual property is not just protected but elevated.
At CMG Worldwide, Joey oversees the safeguarding of creative rights and intellectual property for iconic figures and brands. Meanwhile, at CMG Talent, he leads a team managing over 60 creators, driving multimillion-dollar brand deals, endorsements, and strategic partnerships. It’s a dual role that demands legal acumen, cultural fluency, and the foresight to anticipate the next wave of influence.
What first drew Roesler to intellectual property and talent management? A deep-rooted respect for creativity.
“I’ve always been passionate about innovation—whether it’s music, art, or groundbreaking ideas,” he says. “Intellectual property is the backbone of preserving that creativity.” That ethos naturally extended into talent management. “Helping creators expand their reach while securing their rights is incredibly fulfilling.”
In today’s digital-first world, protecting IP is more complex than ever. “The internet has democratized creativity but also made it easier for content to be shared—or stolen—without consent,” Roesler explains. To address this, CMG Worldwide has built robust tracking systems and global partnerships to enforce its clients’ rights effectively.
Roesler’s leadership at CMG Worldwide focuses on legacy and licensing, while CMG Talent is centered on personal services and strategic growth. “There are really two buckets of income for celebrities—personal services and intellectual property,” he clarifies. “CMG Worldwide protects the latter. CMG Talent develops the former.”
And it’s not just about star power—Roesler’s team looks for authenticity and growth potential when onboarding new talent. “It’s not just about how big their following is now, but whether they’re building meaningful, long-term connections.”
One recent campaign with Wingstop exemplifies CMG Talent’s power to deliver results. “Our creator’s content garnered over 100 million views in the first week of a six-month program,” Roesler recalls. “I heard the brand’s marketing team was doing backflips in the office. That’s what I love to hear.”
Roesler and his team keep their competitive edge by constantly learning. “The landscape is always shifting,” he says. “We track digital trends, attend global conferences, and stay connected across industries.”
That adaptability extends to internal operations, where collaboration is non-negotiable. “We don’t do hybrid or remote work. We’re in the office every day because efficient communication and strong relationships drive results.”
His guidance for rising creators is straightforward: Get protected, get represented. “Start with copyrights, trademarks, and contracts,” Roesler advises. “And always have someone in your corner who understands your vision. Protecting your work early prevents major issues later.”
Whether it’s extending the legacy of cultural icons or catapulting a new creator into the spotlight, Roesler is driven by the same motivation: building something lasting.
“When a brand we represent thrives or one of our talents lands a transformative deal, that’s what drives me. That’s the reward.”
In a landscape where trends fade and platforms change, Joey Roesler’s work stands as a testament to the power of strategy, structure, and vision. Through CMG, he’s not just managing talent—he’s shaping the future of creative influence.
