Peloton Interactive, Inc. has announced the appointment of Peter Stern as its new Chief Executive Officer and President, effective January 1, 2025. With an impressive track record at renowned companies such as Apple, Ford, and Time Warner Cable, Stern is poised to lead Peloton in its mission to enhance the fitness experience for its members. The company anticipates Stern’s appointment to its Board in the near future.

A Leader With a Passion for Wellness and Innovation

The search for Peloton’s next leader focused on several key qualities, including familiarity with the brand, a passion for wellness, operational savvy in subscription-based businesses, and an innovative mindset. Stern, who has been a Peloton member since 2016 and co-founded Apple Fitness+, fits this profile perfectly. His extensive professional background includes leadership roles across hardware, software, content, and services—critical areas for Peloton’s goal of delivering engaging and transformative fitness experiences.

Reflecting on his appointment, Stern expressed his excitement about the opportunity to contribute to Peloton’s growth. “I am committed to promoting healthier lifestyles, collaborating with Peloton’s leadership team, and connecting with our valued instructors and team members,” he remarked. Stern extended his gratitude to the Board for entrusting him with this significant role, underscoring his dedication to enhancing the Peloton experience for all users.

Transitioning Leadership and Acknowledging Interim Leadership

Jay Hoag also took the opportunity to thank Karen Boone and Chris Bruzzo, who served as Interim Co-CEOs and Co-Presidents during the search process. Their leadership ensured stability within the company during a crucial time. With Stern’s arrival, Boone will continue to serve as Interim CEO until the end of the year, while Bruzzo will transition back to his role as a Board member.

A Proven Track Record in Technology and Services

Currently, Stern serves as President of Ford Integrated Services, where he has overseen several subscription services and digital product teams. Prior to his role at Ford, he was Vice President of Services at Apple, leading high-profile projects such as Apple TV+, iCloud, and Apple Fitness+. Stern’s leadership experience also includes significant roles in product and marketing at Apple and Time Warner Cable, along with an early career as a consultant with McKinsey & Co. He holds a JD from Yale Law School and a bachelor’s degree in Music and English from Harvard University.
